The New York Times has disclosed that they bought the most popular word game ‘WORDLE’! The company’s goal is to reach 10 million digital subscriptions by 2025! Josh Warde, a software engineer from Brooklyn, from The New York Times has acquired the game.
According to sources, the game will initially be free for new and existing players!
Mr. Wardle announced the deal in a statement posted on Twitter, saying he had “long admired the NYT’s approach to their games and the respect with which they treat their players”.
A statement states that “The Times remains focused on becoming the essential subscription for every English-speaking person seeking to understand and engage with the world. New York Times Games are a key part of that strategy,”
They also said “Our games already provide original, high-quality content and experiences every single day. Wordle will now play a part in that daily experience, giving millions more people around the world another reason to turn to The Times to meet their daily news and life needs.”
Using this acquisition the Times plans to keep its audience engaged on its apps and websites using this strategy of games and puzzles!
Wordle is a game for all age groups which can be played in just a few minutes! Players are to guess a five-letter word using the least number of guesses!
